Heart Screening for 825 Students at Paathsala Nepal Foundation School

Nepal Heart Foundation (NHF) conducted a heart screening programme for students of Paathsala Nepal Foundation School, Bagdol, Lalitpur, on August 26, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote early detection and prevention of heart disease among children and adolescents.
A total of 825 students participated in the screening. The students underwent an initial cardiac examination using a stethoscope, through which the medical team assessed for abnormal heart sounds and heart murmurs.
Students identified with abnormal heart murmurs during the initial screening were referred for further evaluation using a portable echocardiography machine. A total of 34 students underwent echocardiographic assessment by Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi. No definitive cardiac cases were diagnosed during the screening event.
The screening programme was conducted by a multidisciplinary NHF team comprising Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi, Dr. Prem Ram Baidya, Dr. Mahalaxmi Deuja, Dr. Ashish Tamang, RN Anmol Maharjan, RN Nirmal Devkota, HA Mohan Man Shrestha, Mr. Keshav Prasad Dhakal, Mr. Yubaraj Bishwokarma and Mr. Krishna Nandan Karn.
Through such school-based screening programmes, NHF aims to identify children who may require further cardiac evaluation and facilitate timely assessment and appropriate referral. Early detection of heart abnormalities can help prevent complications and contribute to better long-term heart health.
