Honor Felicitation Program at the 34th Central Assembly of the Nepal Heart Foundation
The 34th General Assembly of the Nepal Heart Foundation, hosted by its Pokhara Branch, was successfully held in Pokhara, Kaski over a period of two days. The first day of the program, held on Magh 9, took place under the chairmanship of the Foundation’s Central President, Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal.
As in previous years, the Foundation continued its tradition of conferring honors and awards on this occasion.
During the assembly, the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor of Gandaki University, Prof. Indra Prasad Tiwari, honored Dr. Prachanda Pradhan on behalf of the Foundation with the “Mrigendra Samjhana Chikitsa Guthi Oration Award – 2082” in recognition of his significant contributions to raising awareness on heart disease prevention and improving the organizational and managerial aspects of the Foundation.
Similarly, Rupak Kanta Rajopadhyay was honored with the “Late Damodar Raj Sharma Cardiac Patient Service Award – 2082”, along with a cash prize of NPR 25,000, in appreciation of his long-standing and continuous service to cardiac patients through the Lalitpur Branch of the Foundation.
In the same manner, Dr. Sumant Psd. Banjade was awarded the “Mrigendra Samjhana Chikitsa Guthi Service Award – 2082”, along with NPR 25,000, in recognition of his sustained services to cardiac patients. Likewise, Dr. Prem Raj Baidya was honored with the “Rheumatic Heart Disease Award – 2082”, also with a cash prize of NPR 25,000, for his outstanding contributions to awareness, treatment, and prevention of rheumatic heart disease.
At the same assembly, based on performance and efficiency, the Sarlahi Branch of the Foundation was awarded the Branch Strengthening Award with NPR 50,000, while the Makwanpur Branch received the Best Branch Award. The introduction and presentation of the award recipients were conducted by the Foundation’s Central Joint Treasurer, Rajuram Munankarmi.
Addressing the assembly, Chief Guest Prof. Tiwari emphasized the urgent need to conduct awareness programs aimed at discouraging the younger generation from consuming junk food and other heart disease–causing foods. He also stressed the importance of creating a coordinated network among various societal institutions to jointly implement programs for heart disease control.
On the same occasion, special guests Gandaki Province Acting Health Secretary Dr. Ramesh KC, former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Anand Raj Mulmi, and honored personalities Dr. Prachanda Pradhan, Dr. Prem Raj Baidya, and Vijaya Raj Baidya (Makwanpur Branch), among others, shared their views.
Additionally, senior cardiologist Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi delivered a lecture on the contributions of the Nepal Heart Foundation to heart disease prevention.
The assembly saw the participation of 165 representatives from 37 districts of the Foundation. Training programs for technical personnel and branch strengthening were also conducted. The Foundation’s Central General Secretary, Komal Prakash Ghimire, delivered the welcome address to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, and participants, while Kaski Branch President Kedar Dhakal expressed the vote of thanks. The program was facilitated by Kaski Branch Vice chairman, Mr. Tirtharaj Neupane.
On the second day of the program, Magh 10, participants organized a morning rally starting from New Road, passing through Mahendrapul and Naya Bazaar, and returning to New Road, wearing Foundation-logoed T-shirts, jackets, and caps. Subsequently, the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2081/082, presented by Central General Secretary Komal Prakash Ghimire, and the Financial Report, presented by Treasurer Uttam Lal Shrestha, were discussed and unanimously approved.
