Report on the 33rd Annual General Meeting of Nepal Heart Foundation
Venue: Agrasen Building, Birtamod, Jhapa

The 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nepal Heart Foundation (NHF) was held on the 28th and 29th of December at Agresen Building, Birtamod, Jhapa. The event brought together representatives from various branches to review progress, share insights, and set goals for the future. The two-day event was marked by informative sessions, award ceremonies, and collaborative discussions.
On the first day, registration and breakfast were held from 7:00 to 9:00 AM, followed by a training session moderated by Dr. Pushpa Raj Rajkarnikar from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The session focused on strategies for strengthening NHF branches and provided valuable guidance to the participants. After lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, branch representatives presented their progress reports, highlighting achievements and challenges.


The opening ceremony, chaired by NHF President Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal, began at 3:30 PM with Usha Shrestha as the Master of Ceremonies. Special guests were welcomed with bouquets by Santosh Agrawal, President of the Jhapa Branch. Komal Prakash Ghimire, Secretary General of NHF, delivered the welcome speech, and the inauguration was carried out by Ms. PabitraMahataraPrasai, Mayor of Birtamod. Dr. Regmi presented a paper on the prevention of heart diseases and their future implications, providing crucial insights to the audience.
Special guest speeches followed, with notable contributions from Dr. AbaniBhushanUpadhyaya, Past President of NHF, Ms. Asha Sharma Shivakoti, Deputy Mayor of Kankai and Bala Ram Neupane, Immediate Past President of NHF. Various award distribution session was chaired by Dr. Puspa Rajrajkarnikar and he briefed about the various awards and its importance. He then announced the names of the winners. The Oration Awardee, Dr. Rajendra Koju, delivered an inspiring 20-minute speech on heart disease and lifestyle, emphasizing preventive measures and healthy living practices. Other awards were also distributed, including the Mrigendra Samjhana Chikitsha Guthi Yuwa Award to Dr. Rajesh Shah, the Late Damodar Raj Sharma Heart Patient Service Award to the Immediate Past Chairman, Mr. Haribansha Bhetwal of the Makwanpur District, the End RHD Award to Dr. Urmila Shakya, the Branch Encouragement Award to Dhading Branch, and the Best Branch Award to Chitwan Branch. Winners expressed their gratitude in brief speeches.
The day concluded with a vote of thanks by Santosh Agrawal and closing remarks by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal. Dinner was served at 6:00 PM.
The second day commenced with a rally from BNC Hospital to the Agrasen Building from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, followed by breakfast. Remaining branch reports were presented from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The closed session (Banda Satra) chaired by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal included presentations by General Secretary, Komal Prakash Ghimire and Treasurer UttamLal Shrestha. Both reports were followed by lively discussions and a question-and-answer session. Administrative decisions, such as the appointment of an auditor and determination of payroll, were made.
Appreciation letters were presented to the organizing Jhapa Branch. Tokens of love were distributed to representatives of other branches by Jhapa branch. Central Office staff were recognized for their contributions, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of NHF members who had passed away. The event concluded with final remarks by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal, followed by lunch at 1:00 PM. The 33rd AGM of NHF successfully fostered collaboration and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to combating heart diseases and improving heart health services in Nepal.
