Heart screening program

On February 23, 2026, a heart screening program was conducted at Bageshworee Secondary School, Malekhu, Dhading, organized by the Nepal Heart Foundation. A total of 1,150 students underwent initial cardiac examination using stethoscopes to detect abnormal heart murmurs. Among them, 89 students with abnormal heart murmur received further evaluation through portable echocardiography by Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi.

Following detailed assessment, 3 students were diagnosed with heart disease, including 2 cases of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and 1 case of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD), with one case requiring surgical intervention. The program successfully enabled early detection and timely referral, highlighting the importance of school-based cardiac screening in protecting children’s heart health.
