Heart Screening of School Children

Activities description

In Mahottari district, 4702 students across 11 schools underwent heart screenings using stethoscopes on Feb 20, 2025 organized by Nepal Heart Foundation in coordination with NHF Mahottari Branch and Rotary Club of Bardibas. Doctors listened for abnormal heart murmurs, and those identified underwent further testing with a portable echocardiography machine for precise diagnoses. 409 students were examined this way. Suspected cases were evaluated by a team including Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi, Dr. Radha Bhattarai, Dr, Ajay Gupta, and Dr. Achutananda Lal Karn. Among them, 15 students were diagnosed with Heart Disease (7 RHD and 8 CHD). 2 cases required surgical intervention (1 RHD and 1 CHD) and were referred to visit Kathmandu for further evaluation and intervention.
